The folks over at Notion Ink have announced on its blog its new partnership with Texas instruments for its next generation Adam 2 tablets. The Adam 2 will be using an OMAP44xx processor along with other Texas Instruments components like Wi-Link 7.0 and Phoenix Audio Power Amplifiers. The tablet will be designed specifically for “best power performance and multi-tasking experience” and will ship with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. No word on the other features of the tablet (i.e. PixelQi display etc) but I guess it's too early to tell. Either way, let's hope the second tablet from Notion Ink will help put the company's name on the map as it is still a relatively unknown brand at this point in time. The Android 4.0 update for the Motorola Xoom has started rolling out already. It looks like the first to get it are Wi-Fi-only Xooms in the USA. The update is about 81 MB in size and will bring your Xoom up to Android build version IML77. The update shall arrive over-the-air, and as such your tablet will notify you when it becomes available. As always with these things, the rollout may be staggered, meaning that it may take a few days (at least) for the update to reach your particular unit. Even more than that, we're guessing, if you're outside the US and/or you have a Xoom with mobile data connectivity (since in that case your carrier probably has to accept the update as well). Still, it's on its way starting today, and that can only be good news. By the way, Settings > About tablet > System updates is your friend in case you're feeling lucky.

We just do not know whether it could compete with iPad 3, which is just around the corner.

You're in luck because at a press event in Taipei today, Samson Hu, the Vice President and General Manager of the Eee Systems Business Unit revealed the company's tablet roadmap for 2012. According to Hu, we'll be seeing an ARM tablet running Windows 8 by the end of the year. The Transformer Prime will also be getting a 3G version sometime this March and it will pack a more powerful GPS module. At CES, ASUS will be unveiling a 7″ tablet (rumored to be the ASUS Memo) and a 10″ with a high resolution display (could be a completely new tablet or the upgraded Transformer Prime with 3G and better GPS). There are also two more 10″ tablets slated for the second half of 2012. According to a Russian mobile site, NoMobile.ru, there is going to be a new Acer tablet that will make its debut next month at CES 2012 - the Acer Iconia Tab A700. The tablet will be thinner than the A200, and will feature a 10.1″ (1920 x 1200) display, the Tegra 3 processor, a 5-megapixel rear camera with built in flash and a touted battery life of 10 hours.
